What is an IP Address?
An IP address (also known as Internet Protocol Address) is a set of numeric sequence delimited with a period (for IPV4) or an alphanumeric sequence with a colon delimiter (for IPV6) and is being used by the computer networks to identify and access an internet resource. You can compare it with a phonebook, where telephone numbers correspond to a certain person. Without the correct IP Address, any attempts to access a resource will be rejected. The IP Addresses are managed by a huge database called DNS (Domain Name System).
